My work explores the unique Confucian culture of Korea from the point of femininity. Historically, Confucians governed not with laws but by the ethics of the ruling elites. However, women were never included among the upper echelons of the social classes, and even now women are seldom allowed to join the ranks of the elite. Even with the rapid transformation of contemporary society this problem persists and many womenĄŻs organizations and human rights organizations are involved with researching the gender-biased systems. As a Korean woman, my personal experience dictates my work in a natural process, and continues to evolve.
