The practice of arranged marriages still exists, but with significant modifications. The arranged marriage resembles the traditional version only in that there are marriage interviews, or Seon. This system of introduction to a prospective marriage partner is a viable method of meeting suitable men and women. Marriage is no longer the only option for women. However, a woman "prerogative, it was believed, was to serve men." Pubu Yubyeol, a term that describes the functional differences between a husband and a wife, is one of the five Neo-Confucian principles. In Oh Jinyoung's video art, she explores the different treatments that are applied to men and women in language and in general everyday culture. Hierarchical delineation of gendered spaces has created an isolated society where many women continue to feel a sense of disparity and isolation. Oh's work exposes the immoralities of the traditional Confucian hierarchy that promoted malevolent treatment of women as a subclass by the male social elite.
