The dining room (triclinium) mosaic was discovered in 1670 on Montee du Gourguillon a street on Fourviere Hill in Lyon. The figurative scene is an allegory of the struggle of love (Eros) against instinct (Pan). The fight is judged by Hermes (the herm) and Silenus (right).
