Although the scene is an imaginary one, the artist has depicted the musculature of the monster on the left with great accuracy. We can see the surface of the skin and can almost feel the muscles bulging beneath it. The scales on the serpent and the feathers on the wings are carefully defined. The drapery follows the bodies of the moving figures and clearly delineates their motion.
