Founders of monastery: St. Athanasios the Meteorite and King Joasaph (monk and son of Serbian King of Trikala Simeon Ouressis). Construction of main church started by Athanasios and completed by Abbots Ioasaph (1387-1388) and Simeon (1541-42).
