The brackets used in this ceramic model of a Han watch tower have become fantastic animal heads, perhaps symbolizing beneficent dragons. This watch tower also illustrates a feature commonly found on later Chinese architecture, the curving upturned tile roof. Its multilevel construction formed the basis for later Chinese pagodas.
