Layla and Majnun was a romantic poem originally written by Nezami Ganjavi (Nizami; 1141-1209) in 1192 and is one part of his Khamsa (Quintet). In this scene the nearly drowned Majnun has been rescued by various animals and is being revived. Painted during the reign of Akbar.
