"Done for the Soviet Exhibition of 1958. The basic motif is bowls of cotton. The Soviets diverted water from the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers to irrigate the steppes and made the USSR the second highest producer of cotton in the world. However, the diversion has caused a major ecological disaster for the Aral Sea area which no longer receives adequate water. "
