Baroque and Rococo: 17th & 18th Centuries

During the 17th century the Baroque style predominated in Europe, with a more flamboyant style in Italy and Belgium, more sober realist styles, in Holland and Spain and a more classical variant in France. During the 18th century the more playful Rococo style spread from France throughout Europe. Look for 19th century imagery under the Modern World section.
