The two Ehrentempel (Temples of Honor; the matched classical temple-style buildings in the background) were designed by Paul Ludwig Troost and sited on Munich's Königsplatz. The buildings commemorated those who died in Adolf Hitler's failed coup of 1923. The dedication was held on 9 November 1935 the twelfth anniversary of the coup.
