A Catholic and former Nazi Nefzger (1900-33) was a political prisoner at Dachau. His death on May 25 (reported as suicide by camp officials) and those of other inmates were investigated by Munich police. The inquest revealed he had been strangled. After criminal charges were filed Hitler removed concentration camps from German judicial oversight.
