The main house which consists of 5 bays was built in 1906. The middle bay housed the ancestral altar. Visitors were received and family members lived in the two lateral bays. According to tradition, the foundation of a dwelling place could not be any higher than the communal house; thus the house is long and low, with a one-step rather tha three-step staircase. The empty space between the floor and the earthen base keeps the house dry and cool. In the 1930s five more bays were added to the main house. The first son an d his family lived in the main house with the second son and his family in the addition. The kitchen and dining room were used by the entire family. The large center yard contained a buffalo pen, a well a rain water tank and a garden.
