13th c British Gothic Architecture

BRITISH GOTHIC Anonymous (c. 1230 - c. 1500) Primary
13th c
Salisbury. Wiltshire. Great Britain.
Very often English cathedrals retained the central crossing tower that had been used in many Romanesque and Early Gothic buildings. As at Salisbury, this central tower was most often the point of greatest emphasis. There was much less emphasis on the western facade towers which had been so important in French Gothic buildings.
