"Old North Church (center, top) was built in 1723. The steeple is the site where two lanterns were raised by church sexton Robert Newman on 18 April 1775, as a signal from Paul Revere that British troops were marching to Lexington and Concord by sea and not by land. This fateful event ignited the American Revolution."
