The school was founded by Sarah Porter whose father was the minister of the Congregational Church in Farmington. The schho was founded to proide the best education possible for the caughters of the citizens of Farmington. It started with 25 girls and now has more than 300 students and maintans the high level of education begun by Sarah Porter.
