This item represents deceased triplets or two sets of twins in one family. Twins are believed to be the children of Shango; the god of thunder and lightning indicated by the zigzag (thunderbolts). The birds on the shoulders indicate the protection of the river goddess Oshun. Twins are thought to have supernatural powers and share the same soul.
