Paris. France.
Louis XV laid a foundation stone in 1763 for a church designed by Pierre Contant d'Ivry which was to be a cross shape when finished. Work continued from 1789 to 1791. I 1806 Napoleon said it should be a temple to the French army. Vignon's plan won, but after the defeat of 1812 Napoleon changed it to a church. The church was completed in 1845 by Huvé and consecrated in 1845.
