Atacama Desert. Chile.
chil2496
The small rocks were scraped away to create a pattern on the hill. These large patterns are known a geoglyphs which differ from petroglyphs that are carved into rocks. Groups of geoglyphs of unknown date exist in the Atacama desert. The Atacama desert covers 600 miles of the northern coast of Chile and is considered to be the driest desert on earth. The inhabitants get their water from the seasonal streams that come down from the Andes mountains.
