The monogram was used by Constatine as the banner for his troops at the battle of the Milvian Bridge. The monograpm was intepreted by Christians as the Chi Rho monogram of Christ but by followers of Mithrus as his sun symbol. This was used by Constatine as the banner for his troops at the battle of the Milvian Bridge. The Christians interpreted it as the Chi Rho symbol of the monogram of Christ while the Mithraic soldiers saw it as the sun symbol of Mithras.
