A diagram of the slave ship Brookes shows how Africans were packed below deck. Over 7000 posters of the image with descriptive text were printed by Phillips for the Quaker Committee of the Abolition of Slavery and widely distributed to promote their cause. Because of such efforts Parliament passed the Abolition of Slave Trade Act in 1807.
