Moscow. Russia.
The original cathedral was built by Konstantin Ton in 1832 to commemorate Russia's victory over Napoleon in the Patriotic War of 11812-1814. Stalin had the cathedral demolished in 1931 to make way for the Palace of Soviets which was never built. The cathedral was rebuilt between 1994 and 1997. This image shows the consecration of the new building.
