"The fish include the Harlequin; Klip fisch; Touring-Reuwe (Puffer); and Ican Hamla. the text begins 'Jacob Everse decrit...' Jacob Evertsen (Evertsz)was apparently a Dutch sailor from Amsterdam who was aboard the second Dutch expedition to the East Indies which was in Mauritius in1598. He died near the Canary Islands in 1600 and was buried at sea. His name has been attached to a variety of grouper fish from the area since 1690. A series of plates carrying his name were published, perhaps included in B.G.E Lacepede' Histoire naturelle des Poissons. Paris 1802. "
