The game was Chunkey was extremely popular throughout the entire Mississipian region. It was played in a central plaza which was sprinkled with sand. The chunkey stone was rolled and opposing players threw their spears at the stone anticipating where it would stop. , with the one whose spear came the closest to the stone was the victor. Betting was ferocious, with men betting their weapons, their jewelry and even their wives.
