The field guns are of the type used at the famous Battle of Stalingrad which was considered to be a turning point of Word War II. The battle consisted of a series of operations between the Germans and the Russians during the winter of 1942 and 1943. It is considered to have been one of the bloodiest battles in human history with combined casualties estimated to have been above 1.5 million. The building was left as a memorial to the famous battle.
