"Sir Thomas Gorges (1536-1610) was the second husband of the Swedish Helena Snakenborg (c. 1549-1635). Helena's first husband was William Parr, the Marquess of Northampton, and thus she held the title of Marchioness of Northampton. Helena and Thomas both served in the courts of Elizabeth I and James I. The tomb was erected by their son Edward."
