Before the rock-cut tomb Joseph of Arimathaea holds the dead body of Christ. To the left is the Virgin Mary; on the right is the apostle John. Once the center panel of the predella of the high altar in San Marco (Florence) sponsored by the Medici family. The other panels depict the martyrdom of SS Cosmas and Damian patron saints of the Medici.
