Study geography of Mexico, Central America, and South America and relationship to Mayan, Axtec, and Incan economies and development of urban societies. Study society, including class structures, family life, warfare, religious beliefs and practices, and slavery. Explain circumstances of the rise and fall of each civilization and destruction of Aztec and Incan empires by Spanish. Describe artistic and oral traditions as well as architecture of the three civilizations. Describe achievements in astronomy and mathematics in Meso-America, and how their development and knowledge about the calendar and the seasons related to their systems of agriculture. --Emily Odza
